3. App-Development

We conduct workshops to nurture aspiring Developers.

iOS App Development Workshop (Basic)

In this 8-hour course, students will learn the fundamentals of app development using Xcode. This course includes hands-on practical session with Xcode to aid learning.

Session 1: Introduction to Xcode
- Understanding the Objective-C programming language.
- Exploring the different types of basic apps, and the different templates for these types of apps.

Session 2: XIB, View Controllers, Navigation Controller, Buttons

- Familiarising with the XIB Interface in Xcode.
- Creating views and view controllers that displays on the iOS devices.
- Handling events triggered by buttons.

- Switching between views using navigation controllers, triggered by buttons.

Session 3: Alert View, Action Sheet, Delegates and Protocols

- Creating alert prompts and action sheets triggered by buttons.

- Handling different choices selected by the user using delegates and protocols.

Session 4: Useful methods, Boolean function, Web View, Scroll View

- Learning useful functions like: Hide & unhide, enable & disable a property.

- Changing an image programmatically, triggered by buttons.
- Learning the Boolean function and make use of them in if-else statements.

- Implementing the Web View to incorporate a website in your app.

- Implementing the Scroll View to make a scrollable view.

iOS App Development Workshop (Advanced)

In this 8-hour course, students will take a step further to explore more features of app development. This course is focused on more advanced programming, such as saving and loading local data, and accessing some hardware of the device such as the camera, GPS and the compass.

Session 1: Introduction to Advanced iOS Programming
- Understanding the Storyboard used in Xcode.
- Exploring the different types of advanced apps, and the different templates for these types of apps.

Session 2: Saving Data & Email Export
- Saving data into the iPhone / iPad's storage memory.
- Retrieving the saved data.
- Exporting the data into a CSV file via email.

Session 3: Accessing the Camera and Library
- Accessing the Camera in your iPhone.
- Uploading pictures taken from your camera or in your photo library into the app.

- Attaching and sending the images via in-app email.

Session 4: Incorporating Maps, Accessing the GPS and Compass
- Displaying a map in the app and pinpoint a specific location.
- Showing the user’s location and bearings on the map and using the GPS and compass.
