iBooks Project
Imagine a classroom without textbooks.
Many have actually talked about this, but we - or at least Singaporeans - are still stuck in the 1980s, where we use textbooks and printed notes which are static, costly, heavy, and not fun & engaging at all. The only thing that has changed in the classroom, seriously, was the overhead projector.
Being students, we are frustrated to see that no one in this prosperous country leverages on the existing technology to enhance our learning. We want to make a change.
By using iBooks in the iPad, students will experience a more effective way of learning with the iPad's interactive graphics, animation and tutorial videos posted by lecturers. Learning could never be easier. They no longer need to carry heavy bags, or have to find their books and notes.
This would definitely be more cost-effective in the long run. Writers will not have to incur any printing costs They can even include more content like tutorial videos and 3D graphics to reach out to the students. As this saves a lot of paper, it is very environmentally friendly.
In this project, we design and create textbooks and assessment books for students, distributing it via the iBooks Store. We know that it will be tough to shift and adapt to something so new, so different. But we believe the change is necessary. And we are going to make it happen.
NPDS App Project
Ngee Ann DanceSport Club (NPDS) is a CCA Club in Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP). Established in 2003, the elite club takes part in numerous competitions and performances a year.
In this project, we have created an iPhone app for NPDS. It contains basic information on NPDS, its class timings and latest happenings. Videos of NPDS members in performances and competitions are showcased in the app as well.
An announcement system sends a push notification to every member to keep them updated. A group chat is also available to host a room chat for NPDS members to communicate. With just a few taps, the secretary/treasurers are able to take attendance or keep a record of club-fund payment.
